Associates of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition are those lay people who wish to share the spirituality of St Emilie de Vialar, the foundress of the Congregation. The Australian section of the Movement was formed in 1989, and at present there are 530 members on the register.

The majority of these people recite the daily prayer and contribute to the newsletter published three times a year. More active members attend the annual assembly held in different centres: Albany, Northam, Medina, Willetton in WA and Ivanhoe in Victoria. A smaller group comprises those who wish to participate in monthly Scripture/Emilian meetings for sharing and meditation, and involvement in the mission of the Sisters. The spirituality of St Emilie de Vialar is expressed in the Principal Elements of the Charism - the Source of the Foundation, namely: Emilie's vision of Christ crucified and the Mystery of the Incarnation as revealed to Joseph the Mission of the Sisters to the poor in all the world's continents the spirituality characterised by union with God, thanksgiving for Jesus the Incarnate One compassion and zeal for the poor love of neighbour.
